Polymer Clay Shading & Liquid Clay Colouring Substitute

Polymer Clay & Liquid Clay Shading & Colouring Substitute
Powder Soap Dyes

Powdered soap dyes seem to be a reasonable and less expensive substitute to pastels for shading polymer clay and colouring liquid clay.

Colours appear to retain their vibrance through the baking process and don't seem to "bleed through" as they do with pastels. Individual colours can easily be replaced in comparison to pastels, which require purchase of a whole set for colour that has run out.

On the down side the powders are highly concentrated and do tend to stain when spilled.

Weighing pros and cons I'll definitely continue using the powdered dyes in future, which also come in glittery powders to add sparkle to creations.
